Lazy Days of Spring/Summer

Finally these pictures uploaded into the post. It took me three tries, I kept getting an error message. Anyway, These pics were taken during one of the swelteringly hot days we had recently. I love the ones where Nicholas is putting his hand on Nathan's leg. This is one brief moment in time were Nathan isn't annoying Nick, and were Nick isn't crying about it. In this picture they look like the best of friends, hopefully one day the will be. They are starting to play better than they have in the past. Like this morning for example, they were "camping" in Nathan's closet and Nathan informed me that they needed "water, marshmallows and sticks for the camp fire." I think Nathan is ready to play with Nick and is using his imagination more, but Nicholas is still wanting to play independently as well as with Nathan on occassion. In time it will all work itself out. In the meantime what can be better than warm weather, and a nice cold popsicle?

New Deck (Finished product)

As promised here are pictures of the new deck about 95% complete. We are still needing to put another railing on the inside of the stairs and a big flat stone at the bottom of the steps. Dan also wants to paint the wood boarders white. We got our deck set which Dan had to put together. The following morning we all ate our first breakfast on the new deck. It will be so fun when we have the boys joint birthday party and everyone can find a seat or just hang out on the deck instead of being in the driveway!

Busy Weekend

What a hot and busy weekend! Dan was gone on Friday night for his long planned "Outdoorsmen Challenge". Pretty much it was a guy fest with added games. So the boys and I headed up to the Lakes region yet again to spend some time with Mami. We had toyed with the idea of going to Gilford Beach but it was lunch time for the boys and then Nick had to take a nap. Nathan didn't seem to mind staying at mami's cause he gets to play with the water hose and in the sandbox. So we just relaxed and enjoyed the weather. After Nick woke up we headed over to a playground at Gunstock where the boys love running around and climbing on the aparatus'. Then it was back to Mami's for dinner and a much needed bath. However, the night would not be complete without play time with Bumpa. Nathan fell asleep pretty quickly but Nick took a little longer since he had a good nap. On Sunday we headed back to Dover where the temperature was a sweltering 95 degrees. Dan took the boys to a park and I headed to Cape Elizabeth in Maine for a baby shower. I was joined by my mom, sister Chelsea, her husband Matt and my gorgeous little niece Lux. The temperature seemed to be a bit cooler in Maine which was a relief only to have another humid day to follow.

Another visit to the Lakes Region

So the boys and I headed back up to the Lakes Region on Friday for a much needed change of scenery. We had lunch at Between the Bagel with my mom. Neither of us remembered that there was a tractor for sale across from the parking lot. I had to literally tear the boys off of it to get them to sit down and eat lunch. Nicholas got grease an dirt all over him and me. We finally managed to place out order and get the boys under control, or so I thought. Nicholas decided to be an escape artist and run back to the tractor. Nathan was upset because I told him to stay with Mami. He decided to eat his lunch on the grass away from everyone else. We made it through lunch and headed to a playground. The boys always have a great time when a playground is involved. Nathan was very interested in the telescope. Nicholas broke out of his shell and wanted to slide down all the slides as well as climb on everything. He is becoming very brave all of a sudden. After that we hit Dairy Queen where a mess always seems to follow. To end our visit we headed to Beans and Greens to see the animals and the plants. As you can see Nathan has made a new friend, or maybe it was just the sweet smell of ice cream!

New Deck

We are adding onto our deck as you can see. The 12x12 section that is right off the sliding glass door is all that was there before. We are adding a bigger addition so that we can entertain guests and enjoy time outside on the deck during the summer months. The old deck has been made more sturdy and stairs will be added as well. As of today they put the rails on and are working on the stairs and then it will be complete. Check back for pics of the finished product!
